Where the Concept Took Shape

Beat the Heat began as an idea born inside a national videogame competition, where it stood out for its focus on environmental awareness. Each level was inspired by two Ramsar sites in Colombia, turning real ecosystems into strategic challenges.

From there, the concept evolved into a turn‑based strategy game centered on the delicate balance between production, ecosystems, and shifting climate conditions

Our first prototype

It was first conceived as a board game, giving us a fast and flexible way to prototype the core systems for defending, restoring, and balancing each biome. This early phase allowed us to refine the game’s mechanics and dynamics before moving into full digital development.

Shaping a Unified Gameplay Experience

With each iteration of the board‑game prototype, we were able to merge all systems into a single, cohesive flow: resources, ecosystems, and climate now interacted as one. This integration opened the door to more dynamic strategies, where every decision carries short‑ and long‑term consequences.

Looking Ahead to What Comes Next

Beat the Heat keeps growing as we explore and bring new Ramsar sites into the game. Each level introduces fresh challenges and more complex systems, giving players new ways to experiment, adapt, and craft their own strategies. And this is only the beginning — the world of Beat the Heat will continue to evolve, one biome at a time.
